The hunt is on for 390 new recruits to work at Knowsley

06 July 2006: The UK’s leading television shopping channel, QVC, is once again opening the doors of its Customer Operations Centre in Knowsley, in the hope of filling 390 seasonal posts. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the roles on offer, speak to staff and apply for positions, which start in August 2006.

Roles are available across QVC’s Customer Service, Order Entry and Distribution departments and, whilst experience is preferable, QVC is happy to welcome interested and enthusiastic candidates from any background. The positions are full-time, part-time, day and evening shifts with some weekends.

Now in its third year, QVC’s open day is particularly important in 2006 as a result of the company’s ongoing growth and further expansion of the Knowlsey site, which commenced in March. Open day recruits are also crucial to managing customer demand over the Christmas selling season and, whilst the majority of roles are seasonal, there are opportunities for ongoing employment. In 2005, over 400 seasonal staff were recruited, of which 320 are still employed by QVC.

Last year’s event saw over 800 attendees with an extra 600 calls into the recruitment line and QVC is expecting another good turnout this August. On hand to help with answering questions and outlining benefits will be Jobcentre Plus, Reed in Partnership, Action for Jobs and Joblink. Buses will be running to QVC from Jobcentre branches in Bootle, Kirkby, Huyton and Prescot - timetable information is available from the Jobcentre.

Frank Robinson, HR Director, QVC said: “The Open Day has proved a huge success in the past and we have no doubt it will be the same this summer. QVC’s massive growth over the last couple of years has allowed us to further invest in the Knowsley site and we now have many more roles on offer to those in the surrounding area. This is a fantastic opportunity for jobseekers to become an integral part of QVC’s Customer Operations Centre, where customer relations and quality service are at the heart of the business.”

QVC is an Equal Opportunities Employer with 1,800 people at its Knowsley site, rising to over 2,000 in the run up to Christmas. The company has been investing in the Liverpool area and recruiting locally for 10 years.
